A Bedford resident for most of her life, Sally Mackinnon grew up in a home that encouraged kindness and respect for all living creatures. Stray cats and dogs were frequent visitors as were many other animals that had met with misfortune. There was always room for “one” more and Sally’s parents encouraged her and her three siblings to rescue any critter that needed help. Occasionally, even the adult Mackinnons brought home their own stray or two.
Since space and property were not an issue, and Mr. and Mrs. Mackinnon possessed great fortitude, the children were allowed to keep their new found pets. They quickly became known as the “animal loving family”. Thus began Sally‘s career as neighbors and friends began to call her to watch their homes and take care of their animals. You could almost say she “was born into it”.
For over thirty years Sally has pursued her love of animals and has been giving responsible and loving care to hundreds of local residents’ pets. These pets are “best friends” and companions and very near and dear to people‘s hearts and Sally treats each of them as though they were her own. The responsibilities she learned at an early age has carried over into the unique care she puts into people’s animals and homes and her lifetime commitment as caregiver. |
